Message from the Director

I am pleased to welcome you to our website, as Director of the International School of Athens. I hope that you will find it informative and interesting.

The succession in the direction takes place during a very peculiar era of our school’s history. In Greek we use to call that χαρμολύπη, an emotion we experience during the orthodox Easter, when grief and happiness coexist. Costis Dardoufas, having served the school as a director for more than 12 years, died unexpectedly mid July leaving a huge empty space alongside with his legacy and impact to the school community. I had the opportunity to have been one of his students during the early seventies, one of his colleagues in the eighties and a good friend for the last 40 years. The responsibility of succeeding Costis in the Direction of ISA is indeed an honor and a challenge. Every effort will be made to serve his principles and educational spirit. A few months ago Costis Dardoufas used the following words to welcome the visitors to our school’s website:

“During the 37 years of its existence, ISA has consistently striven to offer its students a first-rate education at all levels. The school is student-centered with a holistic approach ensuring that every child has the opportunity to develop to the fullest of his or her own potential. Whether students are able to attend ISA one full year or fourteen, they leave us in the confidence that they have been well-prepared for their next educational step.”
It is with great pleasure and honour that I undertake the direction of ISA and I shall strive to continue such a high academic tradition in a promising and excelling educational community. I aspire to promote the further growth of our school in these challenging modern times.

Dr. Spyros Molfetas
Director
